Many of us enjoyed watching the hit series “Mad Men”, and definitely my favorite part was seeing the mid century modern furniture.  I grew up in this era and I do remember the blonde colored occasional tables my parents had and their “tea cart”.  I suppose that previously to using these tables on wheels for cocktails, they really were used to wheel in afternoon tea.  Just not in our house.

For some reason I felt an attachment to it, and it was one of the things I brought home when it was time to sell their house and our family home of over fifty years.  Unfortunately, I don’t really have a place to put it, and I have been eyeing one of these beautiful and also functional bar cabinets or carts.  They are popular again and many of them have great options like wine glass holders, wine bottle holders, and drawers.  I particularly love the ones from Caracole, because like all of their pieces, they are works of art….not just a piece of furniture!

The “High and Mighty” cabinet is a culmination of artfully inspired details and stylish elements. Behind its two doors is generous storage and well-engineered functionality, including storage drawers, bottle storage, and a pull-out shelf. Whether open or closed, the aesthetic is one of understated luxury.
A few of the great features are:
  • Case in Silver Fox with Silver Paint interior.
  • Legs in Soft Silver Leaf.
  • Two doors with knife hinges.
  • Open top area with stone bottom, small glass shelf and stemware storage at top.
  • Mirrored on inside back.
  • Pull-out shelf with laminated surface.
  • One drawer on right side, with two wine bottle storage areas.
  • Metal ferrules in Lightly Brushed Chrome.

The charcoal colored portable bar below is oval shaped with a striking blue sandstone top.  It is trimmed with crisscrossing gold metal handles.  Finished on all sides, the curved doors open with Caracole’s signature “jewelry pulls” to reveal storage for hanging wine glasses, bottles of wine, and all of your other bar essentials.  Timeless….
